Low-intensity vibration, first studied to benefit astronauts who experience loss of bone density during prolonged space travel, is now found to help reverse osteoporosis, obesity and musculoskeletal pain, and preserve muscle mass. We will review some of the research on this exciting intervention and discuss how something seemingly so simple can have such a wide range of positive effects. Differences between low-intensity vibration (LIV) and whole body vibration (WBV) will be presented along with studies showing that WBV is unsafe. Each participant will have the chance to experience low intensity vibration. Group size is limited to 8 people. Reserve your spot well in advance. Refreshments, handouts, lecture, and the experience are all FREE.
